Comment: Recommended corporate practice which is further diversifying its business. In its advice to public companies, the firm occupies an important niche on the interface between public law and corporate that few competitors can offer. One prominent example is the advice to the German Federal Ministry of Transport on setting up an autobahn (freeway) company. The employment and tax practices were also involved, which shows the potential such instructions have for the firm as a whole. The high-end Mittelstand is still at the heart of the corporate practice, with the firm increasingly advising these clients on international activities. The solid Shanghai office is a boon here, but even clients from the UK, US and France turn to GvW. The staff unrest continues, however: corporate lawyers Till Liebau and Dr. Markus Rasner left the Frankfurt office after a short time (to Oppenhoff).
Recommended: Christian Mayer-Gießen.
Practice: Focus on advice to high-end, internationally active Mittelstand companies. Extensive ongoing advice, increasing corporate litigation. High proportion of international work. (Corporate in total: 19 equity partners, 2 salary partners, 9 associates, 1 of counsel)
Clients: ?? German Federal Ministry of Transport on founding a freeway company; Grundig on sale to financial investor; KSC on statute; Turkish Aerospace Industries on new German subsidiary; Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan on acquisition.
